What it is
Live Court lets you take another player to the Lagos High Court, Igbosere. You can hire a player lawyer and speak by text or voice during the hearing. The judge decides the case.
You can sue over a robbery, attempted robbery, unpaid or bad Hustle job, or divorce settlement. Robbery suits must be filed within 48 hours, Hustle job suits within 72 hours, and divorce settlement suits within 30 days of the divorce. You can file one suit for each robbery. Divorce cases are about the settlement due under your agreement or prenup.
How to use Live Court
- Start a case from Phone → Police → ⚖️ Sue, Hustle → ⚖️ Take to court, Family → Divorce, or Phone → Court.
- Fill in What happened → Your claim → The hearing and the fees.
- Choose a sitting: the next one at least 20 minutes away, an evening sitting, or 1 PM tomorrow.
- Tap File the case · ₦X. To hire a lawyer, choose Find a lawyer.
- At the hearing, each side takes timed turns. You can send up to 3 lines of 600 characters or a voice note up to 60 seconds per turn. Other players can watch from Live now; the gallery holds 30 people.
Rules & numbers
- The filing fee is 3% of your claim, with a minimum of ₦2,000 and a maximum of ₦1,000,000. The deposit is 10%, from ₦5,000 to ₦5,000,000. You get the deposit back unless the case is frivolous or you do not attend.
- You can claim up to ₦1bn.
- Your account must be at least 3 days old, and you must have played for 3 days. You can have up to 2 active cases, file once every 6 hours and 3 times a week, and sue the same person once every 30 days.
- A lawyer sets a fee of ₦10,000–₦50m and gets half up front. They must answer a brief within 10 minutes.
- Court sittings run from 7 AM to 11:45 PM, every 15 minutes.
- The judge decides the outcome and the money owed. If you lose and your worth is under ₦5m, you pay at most 20% of your cash. Any remaining amount becomes cell time, up to 30 minutes.
- Divorce settlements are based on earnings during the marriage, not money earned before the wedding. Without a prenup, the partner who did not file keeps 60% of the couple’s earnings during the marriage; the partner who filed gives up more. You can agree an amount from nothing up to twice the fair amount. The claim limit is ₦1bn.
- While engaged, you can agree to a prenup to keep your own money or split the settlement by 10%, 25% or 50%. A prenup replaces the default split, and the partner who files still gives up an extra 10%. A prenup does not stop a divorce.
Tips
- Check the hearing day as well as the time. If the other player has not opened the court notice, the hearing may move to at least 12 hours after the notice is served.
- You can agree a divorce settlement in Family. If you cannot agree, the partner owed can take it to Live Court.
