Lagos Life is a city full of real people. These Guidelines say what everyone must and mustn't do, in chats, direct messages, Lagos Gist, Hustle, names, bios, business and campaign texts, the Live Court, live voice rooms and anywhere else in the game. They are part of the Terms of Use.
Lagos Life is for everyone aged 13 and over, so what you share in public must be safe for them. Some things that are fine between adults are kept from players under 18 (see section 3).
1. Keep Children Safe
We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation.
- Never share, ask for or describe anything sexual involving anyone under 18.
- Never ask a young player for pictures, their age, where they live, or to meet up, and never try to move them to another app.
- Never pretend to be a teen to get into the teen space, or pretend to be an adult to a teen.
Breaking these rules closes your account at once, and we report it to the authorities. Our full Child Safety Standards are at lagoslife.app/child-safety-standards.
2. What's Never Allowed
- Sexual content or solicitation: nudity, sexual messages to people who didn't ask for them, selling or asking for sex ("hookups", "runs", premium snaps and the like).
- Hate: attacks on people for their tribe, religion, ethnicity, nationality, sex, disability or who they are.
- Harassment and bullying: insults, threats, piling on someone, sharing someone's private details, or following someone around the game after they've blocked you.
- Violence and threats: threatening to hurt anyone, or praising real-world violence.
- Scams: money doubling ("invest 10k, get 100k"), fake giveaways, fake prizes, asking for passwords or codes, or selling Game Naira, items or accounts for real money.
- Drugs and weapons: buying, selling or arranging them.
- Posing as staff: names, posts or messages that pretend to be the Lagos Life or Vatar team.
- Pulling people out of the game: phone numbers, links, WhatsApp, Snapchat, Telegram or other handles in public, or pushed on someone who hasn't replied to you. In the teen space they can't be shared at all.
- Spam: the same message over and over, flooding chats, or gibberish names and posts.
- Cheating: bots, scripts, exploiting bugs, or using other people's accounts.
3. Kept From Players Under 18
Swearing, flirting and dating talk, drinking and clubbing, and betting with Game Naira are fine between adults, but they're kept from the teen space: teens can't see them, and words like these from a teen aren't sent.
4. Names and Profiles
Usernames, display names, bios, business, campaign and song names follow the same rules. Names that are offensive, sexual, pretend to be the team, or are gibberish are refused or changed by the team.
5. What Happens When a Rule Is Broken
- Automatic checks read what's posted in public and sent in chats. Anything that breaks these Guidelines is removed or not sent, and you see why.
- Strikes and mutes: three messages caught selling sex, game money, drugs, weapons, fakes or scams in a day, or three posts taken down in a day for offering sex, scams, selling game money or accounts, posing as staff or anything involving children, mute you: for 2 hours the first time in a week, 12 hours the second, 24 hours after that (anything involving children: 24 hours at once). While muted you can't message new people or chat in public; chats you already have still work. The game tells you why and until when, and you can appeal at lagoslife.app/report. At six take-downs the team looks at your account. Several players reporting you can mute you too.
- The team reviews reports and can warn, mute, restrict, rename or suspend an account, reverse what it gained unfairly, or close it for good.
- Live voice rooms: the safety check may warn a speaker, mute them for the rest of the room, remove them, end a Space or pause their voice chat for a while.
- Serious harm (anything sexual involving a child, credible threats, fraud) closes the account at once, and we may tell the authorities.
Talk about self-harm is never punished: you'll be shown where to find support.
6. Reporting and Blocking
- Tap ⚑ Report on a player, a chat line or a post. Every report also blocks that player for you.
- Block anyone from their profile; unblock in Settings → Blocked players.
- Without logging in, use the report form at lagoslife.app/report.
7. Appeals
Think we got it wrong? Contact support in the game (Phone → Support → Contact support) or at lagoslife.app/report. A person on the team checks it, and puts back anything removed by mistake. In a live voice room, use "Think we got it wrong?" on the notice.
