What it is
Security alerts tell you when your password, email or username changes. If you don’t recognise a change, you can lock your account.
How to use the alerts
- If you made the change, tap It was me to dismiss the alert.
- If you didn’t make it, tap Not you? Lock it, then tap again to confirm. Your account locks straight away and you get a ticket code.
- If someone else changed your password, tap Not you? Report it to send a takeover report without logging in.
How to manage account security
- Go to Settings → Security.
- Choose Change password, Log out of all devices or Lock it.
Rules & numbers
- Alerts stay for 7 days until you answer them. You can have up to 3 alerts at a time.
- Locking your account blocks logins, ends every session and stops anything leaving the account.
- A lock isn’t a ban.
- Changing your password requires your current password. It logs out your other devices and starts a 24-hour send hold.
- Log out of all devices ends every session, including the one on your current phone. Log back in with your password. Other devices are logged out within about 30 seconds.
- You can change your username once every 30 days. Changing only its capital letters is free. You can’t change it during a send hold or if your account is verified.
- Security shows your recent account changes from the last 30 days, up to 10 changes, and any send hold.
Tips
- Only lock your account if you think someone else has access. To get back in, you’ll need the phone you used to lock it or help from support.
