Lagos Life is a fictional life-simulation game operated by Shalom Rayhamen.

This Disclaimer applies to Lagos Life as available through lagoslife.app, lagoslife.eliysites.com, and related Lagos Life services.

It should be read together with the Lagos Life Terms of Use and Privacy & Cookie Policy.

1. Fictional Entertainment Experience

Lagos Life is designed for entertainment.

The game draws inspiration from life in Nigeria and attempts to create an immersive simulation involving cities, businesses, transportation, relationships, entertainment, employment, finance, property, government, law enforcement, culture, social activity, and other parts of everyday life.

Realism does not mean that every event, depiction, interaction, statement, price, outcome, character, institution, business activity, or scenario reflects reality.

Gameplay systems may be exaggerated, simplified, fictionalized, randomized, compressed, altered, or invented.

2. Real-World Brands

Lagos Life may reference or depict real-world:

  • company names;
  • brand names;
  • trademarks;
  • products;
  • services;
  • locations;
  • businesses;
  • venues;
  • logos;
  • designs;
  • trade dress;
  • advertising formats; and
  • other recognizable commercial identifiers.

These references may be used to create a realistic fictional game environment.

Unless Lagos Life expressly labels a company or brand as an Official Partner, Sponsor, Advertiser, or equivalent, the appearance of that brand does not mean that:

  • the brand paid Lagos Life;
  • the brand authorized its appearance;
  • the brand sponsors Lagos Life;
  • the brand endorses Lagos Life;
  • Lagos Life endorses the brand;
  • the brand has approved the depiction;
  • Lagos Life is affiliated with the company; or
  • any commercial relationship exists.

All trademarks, logos, product names, company names, and other third-party intellectual property belong to their respective owners.

The appearance of third-party intellectual property in Lagos Life does not transfer ownership of that intellectual property to Lagos Life.

3. Official Partners and Advertisers

Some brands appearing in Lagos Life may have an actual commercial relationship with Lagos Life.

Where appropriate, those relationships may be identified using wording such as:

  • Official Partner;
  • Partner;
  • Sponsor;
  • Sponsored;
  • Advertiser; or
  • another clear commercial designation.

The absence of such a designation should not be interpreted as evidence of a commercial relationship.

Paid partnerships may include integrations such as:

  • billboards;
  • banners;
  • branded buildings;
  • venues;
  • in-game applications;
  • products;
  • fashion;
  • consumables;
  • activities;
  • events;
  • advertising lots;
  • virtual phone integrations; and
  • other game-world experiences.

4. Fictional Conduct Involving Brands

The behaviour of fictional characters, businesses, systems, employees, customers, or other game entities should not be interpreted as a statement that a real-world brand or business engages in the same behaviour.

For example, a fictional gameplay event involving:

  • a failed transaction;
  • a delayed transfer;
  • an employment dispute;
  • an accident;
  • a crime;
  • a customer complaint;
  • an economic loss;
  • a business failure;
  • an investigation; or
  • another fictional event

does not, merely because a real-world business or industry is referenced elsewhere in the game, amount to an allegation that the actual business engaged in that conduct.

Where a storyline could reasonably create serious confusion or reputational harm concerning a real entity, Lagos Life may fictionalize names, branding, characters, or circumstances.

5. Government Institutions

Lagos Life may reference, simulate, or depict government institutions and public offices for purposes of realism and gameplay.

These may include, among others:

  • the Nigeria Police Force;
  • the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission;
  • correctional or prison institutions;
  • courts;
  • ministries;
  • regulatory authorities;
  • governors' offices;
  • state governments;
  • local governments; and
  • other Nigerian public institutions.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, Lagos Life is not:

  • operated by the Federal Government of Nigeria;
  • operated by a state government;
  • operated by a local government;
  • affiliated with any government institution;
  • authorized by any government institution;
  • endorsed by any government institution; or
  • an official government simulation.

6. Fictional Officials and Officers

Police officers, investigators, prison officers, government workers, politicians, regulators, judges, lawyers, civil servants, and other institutional characters appearing in Lagos Life are fictional unless expressly identified otherwise.

Their dialogue, decisions, behaviour, corruption, honesty, incompetence, competence, success, failure, arrests, investigations, negotiations, enforcement actions, or other conduct are fictional game mechanics.

They should not be interpreted as statements about any identifiable real-world officer, official, employee, politician, agency, or institution.

7. Official Symbols and Insignia

Reference to a government institution by name does not mean that Lagos Life claims unrestricted rights to reproduce every official:

  • seal;
  • coat of arms;
  • flag;
  • insignia;
  • badge;
  • uniform marking;
  • crest;
  • emblem; or
  • protected symbol associated with that institution.

Where applicable, Lagos Life may use fictionalized, stylized, modified, substitute, or generic visual elements rather than protected official insignia.

Nothing in this Disclaimer should be interpreted as claiming permission that Nigerian law requires to be obtained separately.

8. Real Locations

Lagos Life may include names or simulated representations of:

  • states;
  • cities;
  • neighbourhoods;
  • roads;
  • landmarks;
  • commercial districts;
  • beaches;
  • public spaces;
  • venues; and
  • other real locations.

Game representations may differ substantially from their real-world counterparts.

Distances, layouts, ownership, activities, accessibility, prices, people, buildings, safety, traffic, events, and other characteristics may be altered for gameplay.

Lagos Life should not be used as a map, navigation service, travel advisory, or authoritative description of any real-world location.

9. No Real-Person Representation

Lagos Life primarily consists of player-created avatars and fictional non-player characters.

The game is not intended to depict actual identifiable people unless Lagos Life expressly states otherwise.

Any resemblance between a fictional character and an actual person is coincidental or unintended unless an authorized collaboration is expressly disclosed.

Holding or depicting a public office, such as a governor or government official, does not by itself mean that the game is depicting the real person who currently occupies that office.

10. Lagos Life Naira

The use of the term "Naira" and the symbol "₦" inside Lagos Life is part of a fictional game economy.

Any Naira amount displayed as a player's:

  • cash;
  • bank balance;
  • salary;
  • investment;
  • transfer;
  • property value;
  • purchase;
  • tax;
  • reward;
  • fine;
  • gift;
  • income;
  • expense; or
  • other game amount

is Game Naira, unless the interface clearly states that a real-money payment is being made.

Game Naira is not Nigerian legal tender.

It is not issued or guaranteed by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

It is not eNaira.

It is not a bank deposit.

It is not redeemable for Nigerian Naira.

It cannot be withdrawn from Lagos Life into a bank account.

It does not constitute stored real-world monetary value.

Game Naira may move between players within the Lagos Life game economy, but such transfers do not turn it into real money.

The use of familiar Nigerian currency terminology and the ₦ symbol is intended to make the fictional Nigerian game world understandable and immersive, not to represent Lagos Life as an issuer of Nigerian currency.

Lagos Life may simulate cultural or social interactions involving Game Naira, including gifts, transfers, spending, nightlife, celebrations, or "spraying" virtual money.

These mechanics involve fictional digital units within the game.

They do not involve physical Nigerian banknotes and should not be interpreted as advice or encouragement to engage in conduct prohibited under Nigerian currency laws.

12. Financial and Investment Systems

Lagos Life may simulate:

  • investments;
  • businesses;
  • shares;
  • real estate;
  • banks;
  • fintech services;
  • cryptocurrency;
  • insurance;
  • loans;
  • taxes;
  • employment;
  • salaries;
  • betting
  • gambling
  • economic events; and
  • other financial concepts.

These systems exist for entertainment.

Nothing within Lagos Life constitutes:

  • financial advice;
  • investment advice;
  • tax advice;
  • banking advice;
  • insurance advice;
  • an investment offer;
  • a securities offering;
  • a deposit product; or
  • a guarantee of real-world financial performance.

Lagos Life may contain fictional:

  • arrests;
  • investigations;
  • lawyers;
  • bail;
  • detention;
  • prisons;
  • crimes;
  • fines;
  • enforcement;
  • police encounters;
  • regulatory investigations; and
  • other legal scenarios.

These are simplified or fictional game mechanics.

They do not constitute legal advice or a reliable description of Nigerian criminal, civil, administrative, or regulatory procedure.

14. Politics and Government

Lagos Life may simulate:

  • elections;
  • governors;
  • political offices;
  • public policy;
  • taxation;
  • government activities; and
  • political events.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, these are fictional game systems.

Lagos Life does not claim that fictional policies, events, dialogue, corruption, achievements, failures, statistics, or other gameplay elements represent the conduct or views of any actual political office-holder or government.

15. Employment and Professional Activities

Jobs, professions, salaries, qualifications, hiring decisions, skills, experience requirements, and workplace scenarios inside Lagos Life are game mechanics.

They do not represent actual employment offers or professional qualifications.

16. No Endorsement

The presence of a real-world name or recognizable reference inside Lagos Life should never, by itself, be interpreted as an endorsement in either direction.

Lagos Life does not claim that every organization depicted in the game approves of the depiction.

Likewise, inclusion in the game does not necessarily mean that Lagos Life recommends, endorses, criticizes, or makes a factual claim about that organization.

17. Accuracy

We may aim for realism, but we do not guarantee that real-world information appearing in Lagos Life is:

  • complete;
  • current;
  • geographically exact;
  • historically exact;
  • commercially accurate;
  • legally accurate; or
  • suitable for real-world decision-making.

The game may intentionally depart from reality to improve gameplay.

18. Third-Party Rights and Requests

Lagos Life respects legitimate intellectual-property and other legal rights.

If you are an authorized representative of a brand, business, institution, rights holder, or other entity and believe that content within Lagos Life unlawfully infringes your rights or creates material confusion, you may contact us.

Please provide sufficient information to:

  • identify yourself;
  • identify the relevant rights or entity;
  • identify the content at issue;
  • explain the concern; and
  • allow us to assess the request.

Lagos Life may review, modify, fictionalize, label, restrict, or remove content where reasonably necessary.

Submitting a request does not automatically establish that the disputed use is unlawful or require Lagos Life to accept every requested remedy.

19. Original Lagos Life Content

Except for third-party content and User Content, Lagos Life's original game systems, original branding, original characters, code, art, interface, writing, design, and other original content are owned by Shalom Rayhamen or used with permission.

20. Changes to the Game

Because Lagos Life is continually developed, brands, locations, institutions, items, scenarios, and integrations may be:

  • added;
  • changed;
  • fictionalized;
  • renamed;
  • updated;
  • replaced; or
  • removed.

No third-party reference is guaranteed to remain permanently available.
